#best09 Catching Up

Ooops I got behind on the challenge! I’m doing Gwen Bell’s challenge and here are the questions to catch me up!

December 10 Album of the year. What’s rocking your world?

I would have to say my favorite song right now is Use Somebody by Kings of Leon. So if I could buy an album it might be that one, either that or Beyonce because I know I’ll like a lot of her songs!

December 11 The best place. A coffee shop? A pub? A retreat center? A cubicle? A nook?

Can I go back to Florida please!?!? This weather is killing me! I knew it would be the roughest winter, getting back to the cold, so I tried to brace myself… it’s sort of working but I’d still rather be in the warm sunshine! I had a cute little spot on the beach I liked to visit. It was kind of out of the way and in between a hotel and some houses so there was never a ton of people there, which I loved. And it was easy access, I didnt have to park far away, so it wasn’t a hassle.  I just had to drive kind of far to get there so I didnt go often, it was a special treat when I did go!

I loved just putting my feet in the sand, instant relaxation

December 12 New food. You’re now in love with Lebanese food and you didn’t even know what it was in January of this year.

Plantains! I was introduced when I first moved to FL in 07 by one of my Latin co-workers. She took me to a place called La Granja (something like that…) and they were gross! But then I went to visit a friend and she made them for us with this meal she made us for lunch, they were AWESOME! Here I thought I didnt like them but the way she made them just made me realize that I didnt like the way that resturant makes them. So I tried them again at a different resturant, now that I knew I liked them one way, and they were good there too. So that one place almost ruined it for me!

December 13 What’s the best change you made to the place you live?

umm…well we just moved this summer… so unpacking would probably be the best change haha.

December 14 Rush. When did you get your best rush of the year?

oh, I talked about this already in another question for this challenge… here… laughing so hard that you can’t control yourself… thats one of the best rushes for me, feels so good!

December 15 Best packaging. Did your headphones come in a sweet case? See a bottle of tea in another country that stood off the shelves?

I think it was this year…I wished I would have taken a pic of it too, but I didn’t. Rialeilani sent me a baby gift. It was a personalize blanket with a frog head with my daughters name on it (the theme for her room is frogs and ducks!). I’m pretty sure she bought it from someone on etsy. They folded it all cute to actually look like a frogs body, and it was in this cute plastic wrap bag with crinkled paper on the bottom and tied with pretty ribbons. It was adorable! I loved it!

Do One Nice Thing

Habit Forming

I was reading Readers Digest today (July 09 edition) on one of my few breaks between packing for the big move. One of the articles that caught my attention was in the “Best of America” section. It was one little box that took up only half a page. But that little section was worth so much more than the space it took up. It really got me thinking…

This lady, Debbie Tenzer, decided one day that she was sick of hearing people complain about all these things out of their control, and decided to focus on things she could control. She decided to help out by doing little nice things for people. And she ended up making a big difference.

Now, I always think that I’d like to help, but I just don’t have the resources, I don’t know where to begin, or what to do. Well, Debbie makes it easy for you! She gives you ideas and  the places where you can send things. For example, she suggests sending postcards to wounded  soldiers, DVDs to sick kids while they have chemotherapy, and even a good deed for the planet- recycle used giftcards, library cards or membership id cards. Now the best part is not that she suggests these things but she actually gives you the addresses for where to send them. Piece of cake, right?? How much easier can someone make it to help you do something nice?? Um probably only doing it for you! Which of course doesn’t count!

So I challenge everyone reading this to do one nice thing. Just One! Is it really that difficult?? Please leave a comment of what you’ve done to give others inspiration!

Here is the website’s ideas page:

And the addresses mentioned in Readers Digest:

  • postcards for wounded soldiers: 21st TSC, Medical Transient Detachment, Attn: Soldiers’ Angels, Unit 23203,APO AE 09263
  • to recycle plastic cards: Earthworks System, c/o Halperin Industries, 25840 Miles Rd, Bedford, OH44146
  • DVDs for sick kids: Kid Flicks/Barta, 11755 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1450, Los Angeles, CA 90025

If you don’t like any of these ideas, of course think of you own! Just do one nice thing! :)
